Questions
Answered plainly.
How far ahead should we book?
Most couples book 9 to 14 months ahead. Popular summer and autumn Saturdays go first. Weekday and winter dates often have more room.
Where are you based, and do you travel?
We are based in Southwest Michigan, near Kalamazoo and Portage. Travel within 90 miles is included. Beyond that, travel is quoted plainly in your proposal before you book.
How does the retainer work?
A 35% retainer reserves your date. It is non-refundable because we turn other couples away for your date, but you may move your date once within 12 months, subject to availability, and the retainer carries over. The balance can be split into up to three payments, the last due 14 days before your wedding. Our terms explain what happens if plans change.
Who will photograph our wedding?
The photographer you meet on your first call. If they are ever ill or facing an emergency, a trusted photographer with a close style steps in. If you choose a collection with two photographers, you will meet the second before your day too.
What are must-have moments?
A short list of photographs that matter most to you, such as a grandparent with every grandchild. You add them in your client lounge. We plan the day around them and make them our first priority.
Do you edit every photograph?
Every delivered photograph is edited for colour, light and composition in our true-to-colour style. Selected portraits are refined further by hand. If a skin tone or colour looks off to you, tell us within 30 days of delivery and we will re-edit it.
Do we get the raw files?
We deliver finished photographs, not raw files. We choose and edit the best of the day for your gallery, with your must-have list as our first priority.
Can we print and share our photos?
Yes, for personal use. Once your balance is paid you receive a personal print release: print anywhere, share online with credit, and make gifts. HueWeddings keeps the copyright, so commercial use needs our written permission. Vendors may use credited images of their work with our permission.
How long do you keep our photographs?
Your gallery and archive stay available for five years as standard. The lifetime archive is included in The Heirloom and available as an add-on for $250.
What happens if you are ill on our wedding day?
It has never happened, but we keep a short list of trusted photographers whose style is close to ours. In that rare case, your editing would still be done by us.
Still have a question?
